A new school year is about to begin..

Hello grade 2 families,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to starting a brand new school year. We have a great group of students coming together this year to form our grade 2 classroom. September is my favorite month of the school year because this is the time where we will all become a very close community.
I have created this blog to keep a constant flow of information available between myself, students and parents/gaurdians. On this web page I will be reviewing what was learned daily, I will be posting homework assignments, and I will also be posting some fun resources, links, and games that can be explored. Furthermore, this web page will contain up to date information on school events and news from within the school community as well as important notices and dates to remember.

I urge you and your child to check this blog on a daily basis and together read over new content and updates, use the resources posted, and explore this virtual classroom together.

I can't wait to get started! See you all soon,

Miss V

Brrrr It's Cold Outside!

Hello class.
Today we learned all about thermometers. Our class thermometer showed the temperature to be at 40 degrees fahrenheit today which means we all came to school dressed very warm! Visit this sight to take a thermometer quiz to challenge yourself and test your knowledge, have fun with it! If you love puzzles, then click on the puzzles link to try and solve some temperature and heat JiGSaW puzzles. One last sight to search through is the four seasons website, it is filled with coloring sheets you can print out, fun crafts, and great games.
Goodluck and have a great weekend.

Money Money Money!

I hope you enjoyed our "SMART" poem today. Practice reading it and understanding it with your parents and we will talk more about it in class tomorrow. Enter Ed's Bank and help him save money to buy his favorite toy! At the end of this month we will open our own toy store in our classroom and you will be able to buy toys and other items with the money I will give you.
I can't wait!

Wind

Today was the perfect day to test our pinwheels outside! There was just enough wind to cause the pinwheel to spin around. Do you remember what happened when we brought the pinwheel inside out of the wind? Click here to play a wind game about ENERGY! I know you all have tons of that :) Energy is going to be the focus of next week, so explore this website and learn all about energy. See you tomorrow!

We are all ANIMALS

Hello boys and girls! On Monday we are going to begin talking about different kinds of animals and their specific features. For example, did you know that Dolphins sleep with one eye open? Or that mosquitos have 47 teeth? Ahhh! We are going to learn how humans can protect animals and the places they live, and we will all begin to realize that we are all in fact animals. Click here to play fun games, read great books and learn some more funny facts about animals. Another great website to visit is the Earth Rangers website. Visit these two websites and explore. Come to school Monday morning as Animal experts!
 See you all Monday morning!

Make everyday EARTH DAY!

As you all know, last week was earth week and we took part in many exciting activities and adventures. I had so much fun with all of you on our nature walk and playing on the new jungle gym! Thanks again parents for coming out and enjoying the beatiful day with us. During the school days, we learned many different ways in which we can help our environment and I want you to practice and review by playing fun games about recycling. Last thing, please practice our "3 R's" song so that we put smiles on your parents faces when we present at the Spring assembly. Underneath this post is a video with lyrics to our song so you and your parents can practice together.

Click on the blue underlined words to enter fun and information filled websites! Have fun, and see you all on Monday. :)
